Using Your Client and Database Features

This is where you add new clients, select people to do readings or reports for, create new databases, select new databases or delete them. A database is a collection of client records. You are supplied with two databases when you purchase the program. One is called Clients.db and the other is called Celebrities.db. However, you can have as many databases as you like. For example, you might want to create a new database of just your family and relatives, or one of people you work for, or one of clients in a certain area of the country, and so forth. You can have unlimited databases and unlimited clients in each one.

Here are the many things you can do on this form:

1. Enter a New Client
2. Delete an Existing Client
3. Locate a Client by Last Name

4. Select a different database of clients
5. Create a New Database of Clients
6. Delete an Existing Database of Clients
7. Navigate to the beginning or end of your current database
8. Key Violation Errors

9. Importing your clients from Book of Destiny 2.0, or Love Cards Reporter 2.0 or the Path of Destiny 2.0

1. Enter a New Client -
The Navigation and Client Selection area, pictured to the right, is where you enter a new client. Just click on the New button or use Alt-N on your keyboard and a new record will open up in the database with the cursor ready on the First Name field for you to type in someone new. When you do, make sure to complete the Required fields in the Required section of the database. These fields are necessary to do reports for your clients. If you plan to send any email reports to someone that you are entering in, make sure to include their email address in the Additional Information area of the form as well.

2. Delete an Existing Client -

Deleting an existing client is very easy. Just click on the Delete key or use Alt-D on your keyboard.

3. Locate a Client by Last Name

Just like the previous version of the Book of Destiny, you can quickly move to a particular client by typing in the letters of their last name in the Locate Client by Last Name field. Once your database is over 20 or so people, this feature will save you lots of time in finding people. And, for this reason, it is always recommended that you use both first and last names for your clients. All those entered with no first names will be at the top of the database and harder to locate. Usually by typing the first 4 or 5 letters of their last name, you will go right to them.

4. Select a different database of clients

For these and the next couple of functions, we will using the Database Control Panel of the form depicted here.

This section displays the database that is being used. If you want to select a different database, just click on the Open button. That will bring up the select a database box as shown.

You can select a database to choose by clicking once and then clicking the Open button or by simply double-clicking on the database you wish to select.

5. Create a New Database of Clients

You can create as many new databases as you like. Simply click the New button on the Database control panel and a small form will open up, like the one on the right, where you simply give your new database a name.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Your new database name must not contain any spaces or special punctuation characters. Just letters and numbers are allowed. Here I have given my new database the name of Temp. You can create separate databases for friends, family members, people you work with, or clients by the year or whatever you choose.

6. Delete an Existing Database of Clients

This is a very easy thing to do. Just click on the Delete button on the Database Control Panel and you will get a Delete Database form just like the Open Database form above. Select the database you wish to delete and click on the Open button.

7. Navigate to the beginning or end of your current database

Again, here we only have to use the arrow buttons found under the New, Delete and Search buttons to move around our current database.

8. Key Violation Errors

You will get a Key Violation error if you try to enter someone in your database who is already in there. This is because your databases only allow one record for each unique person. A unique person in this case is defined as someone who has a unique first name, last name and birthday. If you get a Key Violation error message, this means you are trying to enter someone who is already in your database. The solution? Just click on the Delete key to remove the new one you are trying to enter.

9. Importing your clients from Book of Destiny 2.0, or Love Cards Reporter 2.0 or the Path of Destiny 2.0

To get your existing clients from an earlier version of Book of Destiny, or the other two programs listed above, you need to go back to the Main screen and click on the Client File menu as shown.

Select Import from 2.0 from the drop-down menu. This will bring up a special form where you can select the database to import and which of your existing databases to import it into.

Here is the form that comes up:

First, click on the Choose Databse to Import From button and select the database from the Window.

This automatically goes to the default location of any of the other programs, which is the C:\Program Files\Cards\ folder. If you have installed the other programs in a different directory than that, you will have to locate it for the Look in: part of the form. Once you have selected the Clients.db file from its current location, click on the Open button. Then, repeat the same thing by clicking on the Choose Databse to Import To button. Here you should be looking at your current directory and databases you have created. Once you have selected one of these, your form should be looking like this:

Here, I have chosen to import my old database into the Test.db database that I created earlier. It is advisable that you create a new database before importing. But, if you like, you can use the Clients.db that is included when you first start up. Now, all you have to do is click on the Import button. If you have done everything right so far, you should see this:

And thats about all there is to it!
